At Shaka Isla, we want every participant to have a safe, enjoyable, and suitable experience. To achieve this, we have established clear rules regarding required skills, obligations, and rights for everyone.
These conditions are mandatory for participating in our tours and comply with the requirements of the Registro General TurΓstico (RGT) of Lanzarote.πββοΈ 1. Required Physical and Mental Skills
π Participation Conditions
To participate in our electric scooter tours, each participant must:
- Minimum age: 14 years old (minors must be accompanied by a responsible adult).
- Know how to handle a scooter: Master balance and steering (equivalent to knowing how to ride a bike).
- Be in good physical condition: Be able to walk 1-2 km without difficulty (in case of breakdown or prolonged stop).
- Not suffer from medical contraindications:
- Pregnancy (risk of falling).
- Severe balance issues (e.g., vertigo, uncontrolled epilepsy).
- Heart conditions (moderate effort required).
- Motor disabilities incompatible with scooter use (contact us to assess specific cases).
- Be sober: Alcohol is strictly prohibited before and during the activity.
π Health Declaration
- Each participant (or their legal guardian for minors) must report any medical condition that could affect their safety or that of the group before departure.
- In case of doubt, a riding test is conducted before departure to validate skills.
π 2. Participants' Obligations
β Before the Activity
- Book in advance: Spaces are limited to 8 participants per tour.
- Arrive on time: 10 minutes before departure for the safety briefing and equipment test.
- Present an ID: For minors, parental authorization may be required.
- Wear appropriate clothing:
- Closed shoes (no sandals, flip-flops, or open-toed shoes).
- Comfortable clothing (avoid long skirts or loose clothing that could get caught in the wheels).
- Take out personal insurance: In addition to the included liability insurance, we strongly recommend participants to take out personal travel insurance covering sports activities.
β During the Activity
- Follow the guideβs instructions:
- Do not overtake the guide leading the group.
- Do not stray from the group (maximum distance: 5 meters between each participant).
- Stay on marked paths (prohibited to leave authorized routes).
- Use the provided equipment:
- Helmet mandatory (provided by Shaka Isla, adjusted and worn at all times).
- Do not modify the scooter settings (speed, brakes, etc.).
- Respect the environment:
- No smoking during the activity.
- No littering (papers, cigarette butts, packaging).
- Do not disturb wildlife or flora.
- Report immediately:
- Any discomfort (dizziness, nausea, pain).
- Any technical issue (brakes, tires, battery).
- Any difficulty keeping up with the group.
β Sanctions for Non-Compliance
- Warning for first minor offenses.
- Immediate exclusion from the activity in case of:
- Dangerous behavior (e.g., excessive speed, failure to follow instructions).
- Endangering the group (e.g., leaving the group, using a phone while riding).
- Refusing to wear a helmet or follow safety rules.
- Alcohol consumption before or during the activity.
- No refund in case of exclusion for non-compliance with the rules.
π― 3. Participants' Rights
π Before the Activity
- Receive a complete briefing:
- Explanation of routes, safety rules, and stop points.
- Equipment test to verify proper functioning.
- Benefit from compliant equipment:
- Checked and approved scooter.
- Adjusted and intact helmet.
- Be informed of risks:
- Risks related to the activity (falls, collisions, breakdowns).
- Emergency protocols (emergency numbers, access points).
- Access the accident form: In case of an incident, an accident form is available to be filled out.
π During the Activity
- Be supervised by a qualified guide:
- Trained in first aid (most guides).
- Experienced in group management and emergency situations.
- Benefit from assistance:
- First aid in case of minor injury.
- Emergency call (112) in case of serious emergency.
- Access to a first aid kit (carried by the guide).
- Have guaranteed access to emergency services:
- All our routes are accessible via paved roads for ambulances or 4x4 vehicles.
π After the Activity
- Report any incident:
- Fill out an accident form if necessary.
- Share your feedback:
- We are open to your comments and suggestions to improve our services.
π 4. Liability Waiver
By participating in a tour with Shaka Isla, you acknowledge:
- Having been informed of the risks associated with the activity (falls, collisions, breakdowns, weather conditions).
- Having validated your physical and mental fitness to participate.
- Accepting the safety and behavior rules outlined above.
- Releasing Shaka Isla from any liability in case of:
- Non-compliance with instructions on your part.
- Improper use of equipment (e.g., modifying scooter settings).
- Undeclared health issues before the activity.
- Alcohol or substance consumption before or during the activity.

To make the most of your tour, we recommend:
β Drink water before and after the activity (avoid dehydration).
β Apply sunscreen (Lanzaroteβs sun is intense).
β Wear sunglasses (to avoid glare).
β Bring a light backpack for your personal belongings (phone, water, snacks).
